A Kind Hand

Patsy shivered in the new home, despite the heat and the friendliness of the other occupants and the happy sounds, despite the good food waiting for her, despite…everything.

She had never, in her whole life, been in a place where she was welcomed and where nothing was expected of her.

Someone approached her and Patsy reflexively ducked her head and curled up, waiting for the first strike and subsequent kick, over and over again.

Instead Patsy found a kind hand and quiet reassurances that she was home, that this was now her home: love, friendship, food, and a warm bed were hers if she wanted them.

If she wanted them?

Patsy licked the offered hand and gazed into the gentle eyes, with her tail wagging for the first time in a long time.

This is a post from 15 years ago, when I started to feel a sense of confidence as a writer.

Duck and Cover

In the 50s and 60s, we were hiding under our desks with arms around our heads. Thinking about that hiding event, there was no way to escape the blast. Just had to think we were safe.

At that time, stores and supply chains were running low on supplies.  Farms had what was needed, canning jars stacked, meat canned, root vegetables stored in the cold.  Farms had cellars and everything might be needed.

Given the supply chain and preparedness, people in heavy city population would have what?  I'd say to dig out this lab and see what could do with this.

                             Be careful!

Life was different in the 50s and 60s. This made our lives have a view of the future.

This made me feel safe?

Families Surround Each Other

Sweet babies bond with sweet dogs:

Dogs sense needs before they are even spoken.

Dogs protect their families. They surround the babies with their love.

And babies surround their dogs with love, too.

Union Contract Word Cloud
Word Cloud for teacher contracts
Teacher Unions are powerful and one cannot discount what they do and can/will do.

This is a follow-up on my previous post about how coaches dramatically wreck lives of students whose injuries resulted in a horrific change in their future: some have died and some are permanently disabled.

Coaches establish their journey into a coaching career through their teacher credentials. Their membership to the teacher unions ensures their protection from losing their jobs.

Coaches usually teach health related subjects, like health, sports sciences, PE, and civics. This allows a segue into coaching.

This said, coaches and other teachers are union members. And the union will protect the coaches with legal forces. Coaches are tenured and protected by the Union umbrella.

Protection for teachers and students

A teacher NOT belonging to a union is vulnerable. Her/his position can be compared to standing in front of a wall and being plastered with buckets of mud over and over...

All that said, coaches have the protection of the union. No matter what.
