One who observes and thinks about what has been seen, what has passed by my way, what greater meaning lies behind and beneath life's small events.

Wednesday Words: Ode to Frozen Wastelands
| Source: ckgd2 |
Pearls of Ice,
Riding on arrows
of wind,
Slicing through the fragile
Fabric of tolerance, endurance.
Stirring the not-so-creamy snow:
Clearing the driveway
Or
Calling for a cab
?
Harsh decisions, harsh reality,
Harsh winter.
For
my sister, Mary
Again, many thanks to Delores for the bold underlined words. Looking at the photos of her poor hubby carving through snow in his driveway and hearing my sister Mary's message on my answer machine: my inspiration for the ode above.

Delores at myfeatherednest posted some Wednesday Words yesterday. I wrote something in the comment section, and felt silly afterwords. The words deserved something more, which Delores wrote today. Simply lovely.
That in mind, I wrote this today. Hopefully, it will be better.

Richard ran his
fingers lightly along the piano, willing himself to ignore the pain in fragile
arthritic fingers. Had it been so long ago?
Peeling
away the memories of hours spent in solitude
at this piano, Richard recalled the joy, the utter joy at playing such a
magnificent piano.
Genius…that was what they called me,
then.
The first chord
sounded and Richard willed his hands to play the classics
once more.
