Commercials can be grating and are usually important for
bathroom breaks and snacks with regular snack argument. But, what if?
GEICO is crazy creative. Their clever commercials make me stop
when searching for Fig Newtons and/or Twinkies with a cheap Pinot Noir.
My favorite this year I have chosen "The Aunts" for First Place.
With Second Place, Captain Ahab sails.
Third Place, with the squirrels and the spy! I love
this lady.
"The Squirrel" Third place
So, you can head out to the larder/pantry. Questions may require some thought.
Fig Newtons or Girl Scout Thin Mints?
Cold Stone or Ben & Jerry's (ice cream)?
Nachos or Frito Lay?...
So many options. So many commercials.

I laugh at the aunt commercial, but I also feel a bit called out by it. A bit too close to home...
ReplyDeleteFig Newtons or Girl Scout Thin Mints? Neither. Although, I'll take some Samoas...
I'll always go for some Cold Stone, but I wouldn't turn down Ben & Jerry's if offered.
My family like the samoas while I like the lemon cookies. I overdosed on Thin Mints. Seriously o.d.
DeleteThe squirrel one is always funny.
ReplyDeleteThe mother is perfect.
DeleteI would prolly rank those three in that order, too.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! The minds that create this have such a wild streak in them.
DeleteHeeheeehee! That's the only thing i miss about not having a TV, i don't get the Super Bowl commercials.
ReplyDeleteThe commercials this year were so nondescript for the most part. Sad.
DeleteThese are hilarious, LOL! We don't get these ads in Canada.
ReplyDeleteToo sad. Do you have computer and go to YouTube.
DeleteI'd be doing something about those aunts! I use the ad breaks to work on my current crossword or to make a mug of hot milo. But with dvds and TV series on flashdrives, I rarely see any ads these days.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is a two way street. those aunts!! When the last aunt knocked, I was ready to lasso them all.
DeleteEven the good ads (and they are few and far between here) get shown again and again and again.
ReplyDeleteOn first viewing I enjoyed your selections. On the fifty first viewing I would be over them.
Viewers must be numb after seeing the same over and over.
DeleteI so seldom watch TV that I'm not familiar with most ads. I do know the Geico Gecko though. :)
ReplyDeleteThat Gecko started out so simply, and now he has a career, virtual career.
DeleteI also like the Progressive commercials with Flo. Especially when she plays multiple parts.
ReplyDeleteThe last one we saw was Jimmy singing with Flo's family, two of which are played by Flo. Great stuff.
Deletei love the gecko always and they do have great commericals. we watch everything on DVR and skip commercials which means the first two are new to me, but the 3rd one plays on History channel and Motorhead channel so I see it a lot and i love it... i can relate to it because that is MY MOTHER. she called me so much it made me crazy. and always at the worst possible time, even at work.
ReplyDeleteHer poor son is fighting for his life, and Mom is looking at a magazine, talking about squirrels. Excellent.
DeleteI do love those commercials. The squirrel one always makes me laugh because one of the Docs I used to work with was always struggling with keeping squirrels out of his attic. It became a big joke and this commercial is spot on! My favorite ones are also the guy trying to keep young people from turning into their parents! Those crack me up! Have a happy day and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteOh, that man is perfect. I see us in that commercial.
DeleteSome of the funniest ads on TV are better than the programs themselves. There was a company, a few years ago, that had a continuing story. I can’t remember the company or the ad but I do remember enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteGEICO is one of the best and you chose some of the best.
Geico is super. Other gems include JG Wentworth commercials."I want my money now!"
DeleteHumorous commercials always catch my attention. There are too many commercials that are so heavy on the 'art' that they forget to tell me what they are advertising. I also like the Progrssive commercials with Flo and her ensemble and the Allstate mayhem guy.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the mayhem commercial for some time. I love that one.
DeleteSome of The Geico commercials are great. So.e very old ones were great. I have worked for Geico for about 25 years now so I rent them well.
ReplyDeleteYou worked for Geico! Their commercials were and still are awesome.
