He's guarding them forever. Touching.
ReplyDeleteSure got me!
DeleteThat is such a personal and very moving tribute - to the children and to the devotion of the dog.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that they still love and are loved.
DeleteGrieving dog monuments are always extra poignant.
ReplyDeleteTheir history of love and care for owners is touching.
DeleteThey don't call them man's best friend without good reason.
ReplyDeleteThey definitely are.
DeleteWhat an amazing story. Of all the points made what hit me most was HOW FAST the kids past, after such a short exposure. Yes, the dog can hold an attachment, one stronger than other animals methinks.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for the post.
Love from the rain down here.
Life is good.
Rain!! Oh, how I'd love some of that.
DeleteMy mom's brother died of diphtheria when he was 2 yrs. old. It swept through the community.
Very sad story.
ReplyDeleteSo sad. Diphtheria took out many children.
DeleteIf the dog is buried on the home property, someone should try and locate it and move it to the cemetery.
ReplyDeleteWhen we moved from our house of 37 years, there were a few burial sites in the back.
DeleteNo animal does loyalty quite like a dog.
ReplyDeleteTrue
DeleteThis is so sad, especially the dog who continued to wait at the school gates for children who were no longer coming home. No one loves like a dog loves.
ReplyDeleteTheir love is part of their devotion.
DeleteThe love of and for a pet is so touching.
ReplyDeleteThis event is so precious. to be loved so unconditionally is hard for many to understand.
DeleteMan's best friend forever!
ReplyDeleteDogs become a close member of the family.
DeleteDogs aren't called man's best friend without reason!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Cindy was Dad's border collie, and she was never far away from him.
DeleteThat's heartbreaking. My dog sleeps safe curled around my bare foot. Their love is so amazing.
ReplyDeleteUnconditionally!
DeleteA dog's love is beyond it all, nothing compares to it. That's a beautiful tribute to the heartbreaking story.
ReplyDeleteThese two little boys and their guarding friend breaks my heart! Their poor parents!
DeleteThe unimaginable heartbreak. So very tragic. What a lovely gesture to have a great stone dog erected to watch over them forever. Beauty out of tragedy.
ReplyDeleteI am probably looking right at it, but is there any way to subscribe to your blog, Susan? I keep losing track of you!
You should be able to follow up in the right side bar. I don't email followers. Glad to see you here!
