“With eye upraised his master’s look to scan,
The joy, the solace, and the aid of man:
The rich man’s guardian and the poor man’s friend,
The only creature faithful to the end.”

  5. What an amazing story. Of all the points made what hit me most was HOW FAST the kids past, after such a short exposure. Yes, the dog can hold an attachment, one stronger than other animals methinks.
    Thanks again for the post.
Love from the rain down here.

  6. If the dog is buried on the home property, someone should try and locate it and move it to the cemetery.

  8. This is so sad, especially the dog who continued to wait at the school gates for children who were no longer coming home. No one loves like a dog loves.

  14. The unimaginable heartbreak. So very tragic. What a lovely gesture to have a great stone dog erected to watch over them forever. Beauty out of tragedy.

I am probably looking right at it, but is there any way to subscribe to your blog, Susan? I keep losing track of you!
