Perhaps it
is the old tree-climber in me that makes me stop and look.
I wonder, “Can
I put my foot there, without hurting a muscle?”
Then “….Stretch
my hand to that branch, without scraping my arm???”
And, if I
haven’t fallen yet, “…if I pull and push at the same time, can my other foot
make it to that notch way up there.
Some trees beg to be climbed, no, demand to be climbed.
Forget about
the palm tree, all show and no character.
Snotty stuck up tree, not made for much here in Southern California,
except for its fancy decorative looks and heavy maintenance.
Give me a knotty,
branchy tree anytime.

| Now, THIS is a TREE! Which up the street, and I am not sure what species it is. |
Yup. T is for Tree.

Now THAT is a climbing tree.
ReplyDeleteIF I were a few years younger, say maybe 10, I would at least two branches.
DeleteThat's a party climbing tree!
ReplyDeleteThere would certainly be some 7 yr olds with b-day party hats in that tree.
DeleteLots could climb that one.
ReplyDeleteThe branches are just low enough to temp anyone.
DeleteWow, what a good climber. Kind reminds me of the tree that was next to our house when the kids were young and would sneak out at night. LOL
ReplyDeleteWait....where you one of those kids who would sneak out at night?
DeleteFabulous tree! Oh to be a kid again, nimble and limber sans aches and pains! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, absolutely.
DeleteThat is an amazing tree, just begging to be climbed. I am obsessed with weeping willows. They are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteGive me a good knotty tree with rough bark and crazy branches anytime.
DeleteI've always wanted to climb a tree, never did it. Will definitely try it once.
ReplyDeleteThen this tree would be perfect for you!
DeleteThat's an old climber, outside your door.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine a Boston Fern at my front door. Not in today's snow, at any rate.
That is one heck of a tree, for sure. You have more snow? Oh, I hope not.

ReplyDeleteWow that is some tree- brings back childhood memories :)
ReplyDeleteIt sure does!
DeleteI love trees just don't fall out of one. Years ago I climbed a Cupressus Macrocarpa. As I stuck my head up the sunlight hit me on the face but to my amazement I could see out over the whole neighbourhood from my birds eye perch in the sky.
ReplyDeleteIt is an indescribable experience for those who have never climbed a tree.
DeleteThat tree begs to be climbed
ReplyDeleteCan't you just see how to start?!
DeleteI wonder if kids climb trees anymore. I am sure if they did, it would require a helmet, and elbow and knee padding. Of course, a net underneath would have to be erected.
ReplyDeleteAnd parents would probably have to have medics closeby, along with some drones....
DeleteSo sad.
Even I might have climbed that tree. (I didn't climb trees. I can't get up past the second rung of any ladder.)
ReplyDeleteWhenever a tree begs me to climb it I just ignore it. I've never been a tree climber. They're interesting to contemplate but I'm always scared that I'd fall if I tried to climb one.

What a magnificent tree! It seems like only yesterday, when our older son loved to climb on monkey bars and trees.

Yes! Yes! Knotty, branchy trees are the best. I spent a lot of time in trees as a youngster and still occasionally wish I could climb. There just aren't any suitable trees near me.
ReplyDeleteI loved climbing trees as a kid. We had a thicket in the field behind our house, and I'd spend hours climbing the trees in there. Until the day I fell. And landed on the barbed wire fence and knocked the wind out of me. I climbed a little bit after that, but it wasn't ever quite the same.
ReplyDeleteHi from Nagzilla bloghopping A to Z
I love that tree! I used to practically live in the tree in the front yard of our elementary school (we lived on the same block). :) I do like palms though...they mean I'm someplace warm. ;)
