It is not so much that I love cars. It is that I love the competition of driver to driver. I love the history tied to each car. Each movie has its own theme song and leading men. The theme songs are more rap than I like, but it drives the story.
Pittsfield, Illinois, is the county seat of Pike County. The courthouse is in the square. Lincoln and Douglas held a debate on the steps of the south side.
For many years, this was the only stop light in town.
No band can swing and nail a song like The Eagles. I had listened to them for years, without knowing who these amazing musicians were.
You know them, but you don't think you do. There is one song that all music lovers have to know. "Hotel California".
What to say about these? The following is a quote from the site below. I will let Wikipedia take it on.:
The rich lyrics – both introspective and allegorical – had fans pondering their true meaning for decades to come. These are kinda strange, but definitely gives insight to the lyrics.
The following quotes song facts.are fromcom/facts/eagles/hotel-california.
It's actually the 'warm smell of colitis', an unpleasant bowel disease caused by eating too many refried beans. John Lennon referred to a similar ailment in Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds: "The girl with colitis goes by".
The line, "They stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast" is a reference to Steely Dan. The bands shared the same manager (Irving Azoff) and had a friendly rivalry.
The
inspiration for the name of the song, however, was not a real-life
hotel, Eagles lead singer Don Henley once told Rolling Stone. (Sorry,
Hotel del Coronado, but you're not it.) "We were all middle-class kids
from the Midwest. 'Hotel California' was our interpretation of the high life in Los Angeles,” Henley said.Jan 19, 2018
Given all the above, listen to the lyrics, above under the above video. They surprised me.
Don Henley and Bernie Leadon in "Witchy Woman" performed this tremendous song.
Everything I might say has already been said. Enjoy the music.
By the way, St. Louis is down the Mississippi.
Tickets may be purchased below. St. Louis is a site nearest to my home town.
EAGLES - Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill –
extend the “Hotel California” 2022 Tour in the U.S. with November shows
beginning Tuesday, November 15th in St. Louis, MO.
During bitter winters, eagles migrate down to a stretch of river from Iowa down to Alton, Illinois. We could watch hundreds of eagles on the ice and trees from our Illinois side of the river. It is impressive.
One November, we watched these magnificent creatures soar over the River while we followed their flight from inside a restaurant. The temperature outside had been about 30 degrees when we went inside; it was 10 deg. when we left an hour or two later.
Birds are fascinating creatures. One cannot see and watch a bird fly without realizing how amazing they are. One blogger who writes about this is David Gascoigne, and his photos are exquisite. He has an eye for somehow capturing their beauty.
Look up to the sky! Focus on the stars, clouds, and birds. You might see an eagle sometime.
Female eagles are larger than the male. Females measure 3 feet from tip to tail; wingspan is around 7 feet (90 in.); and, weight is 10 to 14 pounds.
I have written this first paragraph so many times, each time hoping it would improve eventually. Every time it sounded like I knew a lot about eagles, etc. which I sure don't. The paragraphs bored me to tears. All I can really say with any degree of confidence is what I have observed myself.

To watch eagles soaring and catching the thermals is best described as amazing. Seeing those magnificent birds soaring high and gliding took my breath away. Then, to gaze at them swoop down to the River, scoop up a fish, and disappear in the trees, well, you just cannot imagine.
When waterways in Canada and Great Lakes freeze over, eagles fly down to my stretch of the country to the Mississippi where the River flows freely and fish are swimming around. Eagles will eat live or dead fish, doesn't matter.
These photos used were taken near The Marina at the Illinois side of Mississippi River, my home area. Closest city for reference is Louisiana, MO, just down the River from Hannibal, Missouri (Mark Twain's birthplace). Bird watchers estimate there are 2,000 birds each year along the River in the zone from Alton, IL, to this area, Pike County.**
Groups of eagles are called a "kettle", at any given spot, and Birders find it difficult to count. With all with their feathers fluffed out for warmth or riding the chunks of river ice, this sight stays in my own memory. No photos are ever needed.
Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
Isaiah 40:31
