"Why use plain ole butter when you can use… horse fat? The ad boasts using the finest horse hooves and fat that money can buy. It also says that it’s great on bread, toast and pancakes.

Just the idea of this is disgusting to most of the world today, let alone to those concerned with animal rights. The one redeeming thing about this ad is that it shows the contrast between yesterday’s world and ours. I don’t think that using horse fat is even legal anymore, but in the 1950’s it was simply an alternative. Still, this gives the phrase “I can’t believe it’s not butter” a whole different meaning." You want it, we got it.

 Some of fellow bloggers have questioned its validity, as rightly you should. While there is butter to use on horses for their health, nothing is written about this product, dang it. Ponies were popular in the rural areas where I grew up. The Dept of Agriculture wanted to use ponies as alternative to beef, so farmers were encouraged to give this a run. That was in the 1950s.

Some readers may consider this a hoax, but it is not. Neighbors did this experiment. A neighbor Jim tried this, still had one pony left and I saw in the field a few times. 

 

 

Side effects? HAH

 

 

 My doctor has prescribed medicines for me that sounded good until I asked "What are the side effects?" And then the list comes forward. I have looked at her, saying that if there are even 1% to 8%, I will experience every single one on the list. She always smiles and even giggles.

 

 

What exactly are "side effects + drugs"?

If you have had them, the following

may amuse or horrify you:

 The following list was one we 

heard on my folk's TV, following:

 May cause exploding diarrhea, May cause gangrene in male genitals,May cause immediate and extreme weight gain, May cause suicidal thoughts...a plethora of a whole bunch of bad side effects.

Reading some of those crazy side effects are a bit scary. Be prepared.

1. Severe blisters and peeling skin:  extensive skin loss over 30% similar to burns.

2. Toxic necrosis, death of cells spreading through the body.

3. Nerve damage, beginning in the hands and feet and later moving to the center of the middle of the body.

4. Hallucinations involving visual, smell, depression, sleep deprivation.

5. Priapism which is an unwanted, painful, persistent erection.

6. Birth defects

7. Compulsive behaviors, causing urges to perform a list of undesirable and intense excessive actions.

The list of medications and their horrible side effects is too darn long for this blog.

Lesson to be learned here is to read the information paper folded up in the box containing the possible effects. Lesson is to always discuss this with doctor and pharmacist. 

Heck of a thing, isn't it? 

We went back to Illinois for my brother's funeral. A lady from the church brought really good soup. We were process of eating and enjoying when a commercial appeared, followed by a commercial advertising something. The side effects were given, and we spewed soup all over.   Explosive diarrhea and gangrene in male genitals were a possibility to hit a man's genitals.

In the 50s and 60s, we were hiding under our desks with arms around our heads. Thinking about that hiding event, there was no way to escape the blast. Just had to think we were safe.

  

 At that time, stores and supply chains were running low on supplies.  Farms had what was needed, canning jars stacked, meat canned, root vegetables stored in the cold.  Farms had cellars and everything might be needed. 

Given the supply chain and preparedness, people in heavy city population would have what?  I'd say to dig out this lab and see what could do with this.
