PhotoPrompt: Tracks in the snow

Delores @thefeatherednest

I would be first out the door.  The first to land on the fresh fallen snow.  Me, this time the first foot prints would be MINE!

Morning sun was barely showing.  I did my best tip-toe to the mud-porch where the boots were piled in a heap, where the warm coats hung ready.  Pull on the boots.  Slip on the coat.  Slowly open the squeaky back door.  Squeeze through the narrow opening.  Then, then I could…

But there they were:  Footprints.  Dang.  I had not counted on Dad heading out to milk the cows.  Dang.

The best I could do was to align my foot prints next to his, as if we both went out together.

So that’s what I did.

PhotoPrompt: The Clock

source

What time is it?  Where is it?  What the heck are those sea gulls doing?  Should we be running away?  Alfred Hitch...who?

Okay, just being silly.  But this is my choice for PhotoPrompt this week.  There are so many possibilities here, nothing binding or hard.  In six minutes, the clock will chime the half-hour...

Write a poem, flash fiction, prose, gut reaction, quick memory and post it at your site.  Copy and paste this photo onto your post, and refer to Monday PhotoPrompt gang, who are listed on the right sidebar, beneath the bunny.  Refer to this site, so other people will come and read about this writing prompt.

Looking forward to some writing from y'all!

PhotoPrompt: Train Tracks

Clackity, clack…whoosh
The long train speeds past my car
Tracks seem to go forever, no end in sight.

Boys laugh, dare to walk the tracks.
Cars dart across, rushing to get somewhere,
Their destination mundane and boring.

The tracks take me far away

They speak to my dreams of adventure
Take me to places I must explore.

Miz Cleary’s beagle started the howling, set it off like a fire cracker.

Larry’s old hound dog picked up the song.

Every dog in town was up on all paws, jaws open. AHHH- ROOOOO.
Doors opened, owners hollered at dogs baying, but it didn’t do any good.

The train was passing through.

hhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmrrrrrrhhhhhh

 Dogs spread the word.
 All was fine now.

Until the next night.

PhotoPrompt: The Clock Strikes

Okay, Harold.  We made it to the clock, and yes! I see the time.  It’s not my fault we’re late.

Oh, come on, Joyce!  You are always making us late.  How far have we traveled today…and how many times have we waited for you?

Harold, if you keep this up, I will not allow you to dive into that plate of crostino with garlic bread…

Hey, you two!  We have had enough of this!  If we had known how you bicker non-stop, we would not have invited you on this trip!

Sorry, Leticia!  Harold is so erratic; I can never follow him anywhere.  On the flight over, he made me drop my shrimp…

Okay, ladies!  Here we are!  See the 3:25 tour bus!  I get the fat bald guy; Joyce, you take out the big redhead.  Leticia, you hit the skinny guy with the comb-over.

And, it’s bombs awaaaaaayyyyy!

PhotoPrompt: Tracks

from my hometown

What is it about train tracks that are so intriguing?  What captures your attention when you look at this photo?  What do you feel when you take in the whole photo?  Is the train coming or has it just left?

Sometime this week please put your thoughts together and write a poem, a piece of flash fiction, prose or whatever using this photo as inspiration.  Copy and paste, and link it back to this site.  Along the right sidebar are other participants of the Monday PhotoPrompt.  Be sure to check out their photos!

PhotoPrompt: Billy and Mary Run Away

“Mama!  Me an’ Mary are runnin’ away!”  Billy exclaimed, holding up Daddy’s lunch pail.  “See, and we gots everything we’re gonna need!”

Mama peered into the pail.  Some little panties, two pair of Billy’s socks, a jar of pickles, and little Dolly.

“Well, Billy, where are you and Mary going?”

“We’re goin’ far, far away!” Billy closed the lunch pail.

“Far ‘way, Mama!” Mary echoed.  “I gots Dolly with me, so’s I sleep good.”  She nodded seriously.

“Where abouts is far far away, Billy?”

“Way over there, Mama!”  He pointed to the barn.

“Over there!”  Mary repeated.

She gave them each a kiss, and they set on their way.

As she walked back to the house, Mama heard Billy call over his shoulder. “Be sure to call us for dinner, ‘kay?”

PhotoPrompt: Lined up and Ready to go!

Source: Delores @thefeatherednest

Mommy said the old house across this street was gonna be tornd-ed down.  That the big yellow machines would come and zam blatt roar!  The house will be mowed down.   Just like that!

I got my trucks and yellow machines all ready.  When they need extra help, man oh man, I’m gonna help ‘em.

See?  They’re lined up and ready to go!
