My
husband John is a brilliant man, one of those rocket-scientist types.
We talk about asteroids and volcanoes. He will watch a DVD on math and
calculus for fun.
But,
God love him, he has that selective memory many smart men have. They
know about physics and the elements table, but cannot remember where
they left the car keys or how to set the sprinkler system.
I had to go out, and during that time, John had to call an electrician. The man found the source of the problem, which was in my writing room. To allow access to the outlets, John cleared away all sorts of folders, binders, and assorted works-in-process.
Consequently,
I had been searching for stuff for days. Most important among those
items was the Christmas cantata music our choir was practicing.
Man. I tore apart every possible spot, every logical location that he might have placed my music tote bag.
Man. I tore apart every possible spot, every logical location that he might have placed my music tote bag.
Huzzah.
That which was lost has been found. John put the tote bag in with all
the other re-usable totes we keep, in a dark corner in the kitchen.
His response when I found it? “Really?! In that corner? That’s really funny!”
Funny? Not funny. However, John lives to teach another day. A + B, all the way. As a D + C person, I will try to choose something from my traits that can handle the A+B.
Guess which quadrants fit you? Where do you think I would
find my comfort zone?

How about A plus Visual and Detailed.
ReplyDeleteOf course it would be with the other tote bags! Where else? Going by that chart I'm a solid B with a tiny sprinkle of D (imaginative) and E (emotional)
ReplyDeleteI can see that. Sprinkles, good word.
Deletei might be D or none of the above, and I think you might be D also
ReplyDeleteI think I have elements of all of them. But D and C are for me.
DeleteAlthough I'm sensible and love to plan, I'm so much more a right brained person. I can't do math worth a hoot! This was fun to read, Susan. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI am one who switches depending on the requirements.
DeleteHe's not very smart if he doesn't think about how you might need to find your stuff later. Interpersonal skills are important, too.
ReplyDeletethis happened about 15-20 years ago. He is much better now, though it has been a difficult time for him.
DeleteYour husband sounds like mine. Mine is A & B - he is always saying how intellectual he is (lol) and he is and he thinks totally different than I do. I am a C & D. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI understand your difficulties.
DeleteI am B all the way!
ReplyDeleteThat was a logical place to put the tote bag but he shouldn't realized something was in it.
Well, you have to understand my husband is random at storing things. Once I found the deed to our house in a tote with bills and such. Sigh.
DeleteThis is great, Susan. Funny and interesting, too. I believe I'm a B/C combo.
ReplyDelete
DeleteThat works for me.
My brain is tired!
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Yes, I bet it is. Your post was great, and I enjoyed learning.
DeleteI am C & D all the way. My mother used to say I am a flibbertigibbet. Whimsical is a good word to toss in the mix.
ReplyDeleteWhimsical will be my word of the week. I will try to fit it in to talking with my daughter, Erin (49). She is a published author, and will enjoy it.
DeleteDefinitely D and C for me. Fun post Susan! My hubby has taught me to think outside the box and I enjoy our conversations. I, however, have taught him how to cook since retirement. He will never starve, lol!
ReplyDeleteI laugh. If John didn't cook, then our meals would be haphazard. I cook, yes. But the job needs two people at this stage of our lives.
DeleteIf it's not an empty tote bag, where's the logic in putting it with the empty tote bags?
ReplyDeleteExactly. It was separate from the empty bags.
DeleteMostly D with a big helping of Detailed (which starts with D). Having gone to a high school full of science and math types (a specialized high school in New York City, which I applied to because I dreaded going to my local high school) I can speak for that "selective memory/absent minded professor" personality. I'm the one who loses things. My husband is the one who find them. Especially if they are where I could have easily seen them.
