Going through old photos, and finding the veterans from 1800s through modern times reminds me how history is not kind. Ancestry shows so much.
The veterans shown here range from Civil War to Korea. There is a great-grandfather who rode with the Rough Riders; I couldn't locate his photo.

These are treasures to have. Thank you for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteI hope the generations that follow us recognize the importance of hard copy photos. Digital photos get saved on something somewhere. tech will be different then.
DeleteThank you for sharing these family photos with us and thank you to all the veterans from the past, the present and the future for guarding our country through perilous times.
ReplyDeleteWe are so blessed to have bush brave soldiers.
DeleteI do appreciate this entry, I love old pictures, especially when they include an auto of the era to date then also. Yes it is an honor to have been a vet. To think of those who swore to die if necessary, and did is sad, but with pride.

DeleteI'm so glad you shared these historic photos with us here today, Susan. May God bless all our veterans!
ReplyDeleteOld photos tell so much about history.
DeleteUnfortunately, I didn't ask questions when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing a somber few moments, for those that gave so much.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to look at those men in the b/w photos and realize that I will never hear their stories.
DeleteI was just going through papers and reading draft cards. That is where I found the draft card of my grandfather. At the time he was 62 years old in1942!
ReplyDelete62? Draft rules were a bit different then.
Deletethanks for this post - great photos and obviously great men, modestly doing their "job" in serving their country. Duty, honor, and country. Nice!
ReplyDeleteI hope we always honor our heroes.
