Sassy groomed her inky coat until it glinted in
the moonlight. She flipped and tossed her feline tail. Lookin’
good, girl!
Initially Sassy had
been ambivalent about her
fence-top performance. But now?
Sassy would deliver her most vociferous performance
ever. Her initial dread had given way to confidence and anticipation. Bring
it on!
As Sassy sauntered
down the alley, a gurgling rumble came from beneath her paws. Peering down, Sassy was abruptly covered with
spewing grunge from a broken septic drain.
So much for opera
tonight.
Vociferous, Delores? Oh you, girl, you! Delores at Under the Porch Light consistently challenges bloggers with interesting words every Wednesday. You must check her blog site to read other bloggers!
Great use of the words. Poor Sassy...nothing a cat hates worse than getting wet...oh and stinky to boot..
ReplyDeletePride goeth before grunge.
DeleteSuch lovely photography. I love all of your words too. I will check out this blog it sounds fun. You left a comment, it was 85 here too. That is why I was hoping for some cold Alaska air. Are you are tired of summer as I am?
ReplyDeleteYou have such nice blogs.
Will Summer ever end??!! Last year we had summer, which skipped fall, and went straight to winter!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoy my blogs!!
Poor cat, after all that work.
ReplyDeleteWell, you know it goes with cats...
DeleteOops and I thought it was a photo of yet another one of my adoring cat fans. Nice way you used the words, human, Susan.
ReplyDeletePawsitive wishes,
Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! :)
Lovely cat, isn't it ? I wish it were mine.
DeleteDear Susan, this word posting was an absolute hoot--a laugh-out-loud delight from the first sentence to the last. You know how much I love cats and the third sentence--"Lookin' good girl"--just tickled my fancy and I'm still grinning like the Cheshire right now. Thank you. Peace.
ReplyDeleteWhen I wrote it, I thought about you and about Elephant's Child.
DeletePoor Sassy! I'm sure her performance would have brought the house down. I'm such a cat lover, I just love this piece. So clever!
ReplyDeleteI am sure Sassy will re-coop, and try again.
DeleteIf Sassy had been anything like the cats who rule me, the complaints when she was grungified would have been truly vociferous.
ReplyDeleteI love your use of the sadistic one's words...
Jazz and Jewel, complain?
DeleteAin't that the way life goes sometimes!! Thank goodness for showers (said no cat, ever). :)
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see a cat that would tolerate a shower!
DeleteVociferous is a good word. This reminded me of a vocabulary exercise we might have had to do in English class when I was in high school. You get an "A".

A Faraway View
A compliment from you is more than an "A"! The word came from Delores.
DeleteOh no! Poor Sassy. Still, it's night time, maybe no one will notice the grunge when they hear the splendour of her performance?
ReplyDeleteCats are very vain creatures, you know.
