Dennis lives his
entire life beneath a self-imposed umbrella,
cutting off the rest of the world.
Silence reigns, attacking his sanity.
The tang
of his silent life is bitter, almost effervescent
in its taste and smell.
Seeing the world
hustle and bustle beyond him,
Dennis struggles from encasement, as if gum
hardens into a resin shell after as it drops
upon his personal aegis.
P. S. Many thanks to Delores at thefeatherednest for providing "Wednesday Words". This week was a real challenge! Please visit her site where other participants are provided!
Poor Dennis...
ReplyDeleteSome people find the world a painful place to be. Dennis is one of them.
DeleteNot fun at all
ReplyDeleteI know people like that. They are so afraid to take part in life and feel safe in their own little box.
ReplyDeleteSo do I. Sad existence.
DeleteShe makes this tougher and tougher.
ReplyDeleteDelores has a talent for words!
DeleteThis sounds like many people I know, unfortunately.
ReplyDeletewww.modernworld4.blogspot.com
Sadly, so do I.
DeleteIt may have been difficult, but you did a great job with it and I couldn't tell you struggled a bit (no one would ever know if you didn't mention it). I think it's very nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI think all who participate finds each week stretches them. Delores is one clever writer.
DeleteHiding within, not a place to be
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not a place to stay.
DeleteDennis needs to close his umbrella and let the sunshine or rain pour down on his head.
ReplyDeleteI hope Dennis can find his way out from his umbrella.
DeleteDennis needs to move out from under that umbrella a bit !
ReplyDeleteYes, perhaps he will.
DeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeleteActually, the way you incorporated those words have elements of truth in my world.
Be well, my friend.
Gary
It has elements of too many people's lives.
