Burning a trail
Across scorching
Yellow star,
Brave little planet
Venus--
Goddess of Love.
eyes closed
against the blaze of pure light
Small fury
Making a journey.
Making a journey.
Goddess
Crosses over solar storms
Seeking its orbit.
Planet against star—
Will both burn
to cinders?
to cinders?

Looks like the sun has a blackhead.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I was lucky enough to view part of the transit at a local observatory. It reminded me how huge our sun really is :-)

The sun will win, but you never now Venus could give it the plague or something
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDoes it have to be a battle? I vote for them both continuing, long after even memories of me are dead and gone.
And people say I'm creative! You come up with some interesting things my friend. I am sometimes jealous of your talent. :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics and poem - I remember reading about this celestial phenomenon...
ReplyDeleteAnd now you've made me think of the song Venus, by Frankie Avalon (I think...)
It will be ringing in my head for a while...
I love this, such an amazing event to ponder.
ReplyDeleteLove conquers all but it's nice to have red hot passion too! So I call it a tie! Yay! Take care

Hey Susan,
ReplyDeleteNicely put and wasn't that something. Of course, the next transit of Venus will be December 10–11, 2117. Look forward to that. They had a very informative documentary on the BBC in regards to Venus. Fascinating in a thickly cloud covered sort of way.
Can you believe some jokers called it something beginning with the letter "P" that rhymes with Venus :)
Hope you had a peaceful weekend.
Gary
Fabulous! And the pictures you chose made it even better!
