The COOL Cars we love

While my own experience with cars is limited to home to school/store to home, I had spent time with my grandson, the car thief. Thank you, dear Lord, for technology. We will watch him grow up.

While his vocabulary was that of a two-year old (which he was at the time), he had clear vision on the types of cars.  There are three:  little cars, big cars, and cool cars.  He was quite serious when he said "COOL cars."

It makes perfect sense, this division of cars.
Here are some “cool cars”.

I tried to remember what this is....

Now, given that these are “cool cars”, there are many cars that used to be the "Kings of Cool Fast Cars".  Sadly, they have broadened their line. Now the cool cars are really expensive, and not that cool.

The Dukes of Hazard and Magnum P.I. must weep at the devolution of the cool fast cars.

P.S.  The Mustang is still the Mustang.  You can see them at this site.

I need to get better cars, some cool cars. These are not.

End of the Rainbow

Hill of Tara, Ireland
anam cara Hill of Tara
For seventy years, Liam had chased every rainbow to capture a leprechaun and his pot of gold. Knowing that this would be his last rainbow, Liam slowly hobbled to the Hill of Tara. Gasping in surprise, there sat his leprechaun.

Liam threw his rope and wrapped it around the green fella. "Ha! I've caught you at last! Now, give me your gold, you rascal!"

The leprechaun sighed. "Have ye caught me at last, Liam? Been lookin' tor the gold all yer life, seanfhear. I'll give ye the gold." With that he pulled out a Samsung 10 Android phone, texted in some numbers. "Here you go !" and handed it to Liam.

"What? WHAT?!  Stock in some company called Amazon? Really? Where is my gold?!" Liam gasped. "500 shares? I have never heard of this Amazon!"

Leprechaun stood up and sighed, "Oh, you fool. Each share is worth near $1,800 each. Ye will find yerself swimmin' in gold! Ye eejit!  Go to TD Ameritrade, and they'll set ye straight."  With that, he faded into air.

Liam being no eejit, he scheduled an appointment with TD Ameritrade for the next day.

Being kind, the little green man had left a wallet with $1,000 USA as a gift, which was pretty decent at the time. Liam hobbled over, picked it up and headed to O'Flanagan's Pub. No more rainbow chasing for me.

Just to reassure you, Liam did go to TD Ameritrade. They were more than happy to help him. Liam is doing quite well.

First Date

It begins so early, when a boy and girl meet.  Their eyes connect, hormones rise to the top, and tuh-duh!  It all goes from there.

Grandson Benjamin and unknown floozy

But, must it start so early?  When both are still in diapers/nappies?  When running without falling is an accomplishment?  When words are understood by the parents, and few other people?

I guess it does.

Cars vs. Dinosaurs

These days my grandson is too busy to Skype with his grammy.  Unless his mom is chasing him, engaging him in some activity, all I see of this boy is his fine almost white hair flying in the wind as he races away.

Snotty little thing.

So, my grandson, the former car thief, has become aware that there is a computer screen that cannot be breached.  To break through this problem, I have broken out the toy dinosaurs, which have long lay in the dark.

back row: Terry, Sarah; front row: Timmy, Bumpy, and
Stanley
While his dinosaurs accurately depict the food preference and degrees of bloody violence, mine are darn friendly. They all have delightful smiles and names. There are all herbivores; even the T-Rex (Terry).  The dinosaurs have become fast friends and visit on Skype.
Dr. Who has visited on many occasions.

My dinosaurs recently gave the little guy good-bye kisses (right on the camera light), which amazed him.  After about 10 kisses, we both said “Good-bye, I love you”, only he added “I love you, dinosaurs.”

My Grandson, the car thief

I need some more cars.

Today my grandson and I played “cars”.  His collection is huge, while I have only 6 cars, one of which is gone.

One by one we shared our cars.

My little yellow and orange plastic cars (from the movie “Cars”) to his massive earth mover which he calls his "digger".  My bus to his blue car...

Yet the little stinker tried to take them from me!

My bus, fire engine, light green VW —the little thief tried to take them all!

Fortunately his hand could not break through the computer screen.  My car, indeed.

Skype is a marvelous invention for a grandmother longing for her little guy in Switzerland.

At least he didn’t get my hot red convertible.  It is under the desk, hiding.

Merry Christmas to All...

My first Christmas cake in Ireland, 1985

Today is the day!  My daughter with her little family fly in from Zurich to LAX, and we will be there to meet them.  Oh boy will we be there!!

This will be my last post until after the New Year in 2013.  Not being a Superwoman, I will be spending much of my time holding my grandson and enjoying Christmas with our grown children.

This is also our 40th Anniversary right before Christmas.  We have a lot going on.

May you each have a marvelous Christmas.  Hold on tightly to those whom you cherish.  Never lose an opportunity to convey how much you love those around you.
Peace on Earth...
