PhotoPrompt: The Old Man in the Moon

From PhotoPrompt Monday!

It was not often that Jim viewed the sky with such expectation.  Oh, sure—the transit of Venus was a high-light for him.  And, the recent increase in solar flares, well, he nearly jumped out his skin with excitement on that one.  Oh, and he remembered the asteroid strike on Jupiter like it was yesterday, not about twenty years ago.

But tonight.  Oh, tonight was a full moon.  His astronomy club had gathered on Mount Laguna to see the newly-discovered feature on the moon’s ghostly white face.

As the moon reached its best view, a hushed awe fell over the mass of balding, middle-aged men who gazed through their telescopes.

As if in one voice, they all spoke.  “You’re right, Jim!  The Old Man in the Moon does look like Fred Flintstone!  It’s a massive break-through…”

Jim smiled inwardly.
