Richard
huddled in his jail cell, pulling brilliant blue duster closely around him. His
secretary Heather had given it to him yesterday during their latest tryst. She called it a new "radioactive color" style. He had been so happy.
Now
he was watching his world disintegrate.
Where had it all gone wrong? He wondered. Surely
everyone in the investment business embezzled
from his clients now and then. It was part of the investment game.
With the untimely arrival of the arrest
warrant, he was for a moment left spellbound. Richard’s
travel carry-on sat by the door, stuffed with one-million dollars and a change
of underwear.
Five more minutes!
Five more
minutes and he would have been out the door, heading to Jamaica.
Bummer.

Crime doesn't pay and never will. Clever story, Susan!
ReplyDeleteThat is a truth that Richard didn't grasp.
DeleteDo I feel bad for Richard? No
ReplyDeleteRichard was lacking a moral compass.
DeleteThat he thought all investors embezzled is very telling about who he is. He deserved to get caught.
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't the smartest investor in the tool box.
DeleteNo, not everyone does it, and if they do, it might be a sign to think twice.
ReplyDeleteNot everyone cheats and steals. those who do absolutely must be charged.
DeleteHe got what he deserved.
ReplyDeleteYup. He sure did.
DeleteTough luck Richard. You are reaping what you have sown.
ReplyDeleteso true. Anyone who makes decisions like this understands the results.
Delete"Surely everyone embezzles..?" WRONG! And now he knows that.
ReplyDeleteHe will not wear a blue duster in prison.
DeleteThe rough thing about this is, some people actually think like that...
ReplyDeleteSadly so. too many, in fact.
DeleteEnjoyed the story thoroughly dear Susan 👍🥰
ReplyDeleteWeather we realise or not universe has been knitted so carefully so everyone can harvest what he has sown.no escape can ever be possible for anyone because system encompasses every single being
