You've been sent to bed, Porter.
The time had come to
discuss the pup’s place in the pack.
There was no avoiding the intrusion this Benjamin had created in a once-serene
den. Toys once available to Porter and
Scrumpy were now “No, put that down!” and then “Go to bed!” where the gate
would be closed and they would look through the bars at the crawling Benjamin.
See this? It's mine, you can't have it!
Yes, it was time.
Porter was the
dominant canine of the two and it was decided that he would handle
negotiations.
The Alpha female presented
the time and place. With anticipation, Porter climbed into the box.

Leave us alone for minute, will you? The kid and me have somethin' to discuss.
Ideas were shared,
thoughts exchanged, and a mutual appreciation of the other rapidly
developed. However, despite clearly
expressed questions, the answer was simple.

You may think you know who is in charge...but, it's me! I'm calling the shots in this pack...
Benjamin was
staying. In fact, Benjamin would
eventually surpass his pack mates, and join the Alphas.
Live with it, Porter, had been the parting sentiment.

haha hoping to ship him off to nanny
ReplyDeleteNo nanny is living in that house! A Grammy/Grandma might visit...
DeleteIt's pretty obvious who's in charge.....beautiful 'pack' photo.
ReplyDeleteOh, Benjamin loves those dogs. When the dogs are wrestling & playing, Benjamin crawls to them, mouth open and doing his best baby growl.
DeleteAww, what sweet photos. Poor Porter, babies do kind of make a mess of things, don't they? :D
ReplyDeleteBabies certainly 'up the game'!
DeleteGood photography. I can see Porter's dilemma. Cody looks so sad at times, since the cat joined our family.
ReplyDeleteSiblings of all sorts create change in any pack.
DeleteA great story for the pictures.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter keeps me supplied via something called "Smug Eye"? I can see a pic and a video within minutes of the take. Amazing!
DeleteThat first picture of Porter is priceless. But I know he has accepted the changes already. A great pack, for sure.
ReplyDeletePorter has the most expressive eyes. Scrumpy is a terrier something. Benjamin loves Scrumpy the most, I think, because Scrumpy lets him get close.
DeleteAwwwwh! You've got some great pictures there!
ReplyDeleteWhen the parents have a great camera on hand, great photos happen!
DeleteGreat story, great photos - and a great looking pack.
ReplyDeleteWish I were there!
DeleteNot getting all the attention, poor guys
ReplyDeleteNo, life has changed in the past year. They are still loved and given great care. But Benjamin definitely is higher up.
DeleteI smiled through this post. Babies and animals, perfect together!
ReplyDeleteThey steal any scene in which they participate.
Deleteso adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteI know!!
DeleteI feel Porter's pain. With every new addition here, poor Aldo slips quietly further to the rear.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
