What now?

So much for Halloween candy.

Christmas always comes to an abrupt end, it seems. For 2 1/2 solid months, the stores have been draped with garlands, dripping bright ornaments, while Halloween candy is in shopping cart marked "50% off". Carols of all types have been playing in a loop, but for some reason they have been classier this year.

Celebrating and loving with our family is a wonderful year long fest. So, pick up all that wrapping paper, down the eggnog, and finish up all those little chores.

Here is before:

Walmart sells everything.

Here is after:

after the Christmas rush

But, no one sees what is really left behind:

Dump site for carts from all stores
There were mountains of shopping carts tossed in the field.
After a month or so, these were all gone.

Christmas is over, yes, but we will continue rejoicing for the entire year. No matter how strange and scary our lives are now, we will continue to rejoice.

After all, Christmas is only 11 months and a few days away.

Get down and Party!

"Groups of family members, friends and neighbors would gather in someone’s home, often with teas and coffees or alcohol on hand, and enjoy a drink, a bite to eat and a few hours of conversation."

After the Depression and WW2, women were chomping to have more than they ever did in the decades before.  Clothes, hairstyles, house designs were are part of the big change.  Women were ready to enter the labor force.

Tupperware was created by Earl Tupper in 1946, and became a raging success. Women hosted parties, fixed impressive treats, and visited with neighbors. It was a way to socialize..."as a method of empowering women, and giving them a toehold in the postwar business world." Wikipedia

I did not join the Tupperware stampede until I was at home with my children in the  70s and 80s. Neighbor ladies came, ate treats, bought and ordered stuff. Then one of them would volunteer to host the next one. The hostess would get a special item for this, worth every penny.

Was this part of your life? Did you order stuff, and do you still have items in your cabinet? I do not. When we moved, they were tossed, since they were pretty battered and shredded.

Men most likely did not have the Tupperware Experience. However, men are seeing Tupperware a potential market.

If Superman can throw a Tupperware party, then..

You know, you too can host a party on Zoom!

Wednesday Words: At Jo-Ann's Fabric and Crafts

Cindy hurried to Jo-Ann’s for the early opening sale.  When Jo-Ann’s had a sale and coupons were in hand, nothing could hold Cindy back.

Racing past faux limestone gargoyles and foam pumpkins, Cindy began her trek through this super store.  Gotta find Halloween fabric!  Sixty-percent off with an extra 10% with coupon….

Cindy grabbed bolts of felt and black-spider-with-glowing-ghost fabric.  Everything was going well, so uneventfulI’ll be home in time….

That was when a spasm hit her left calf, the largest cramp ever.  Cindy tried not to scream.  But some things cannot be squelched.

The underlined words are a gift from Delores @Under the Porch Light .  Please visit her site and see what others have created.  Some great stuff!

Note:  Jo-Ann's store is nationwide.  You will need a GPS locator to navigate a super store.
