What did you wear?

Prom was always the height of the senior season, if it went smoothly. The basketball court was covered with silver and blue balloons, used prom dresses were up for the taking.  They had been reworked by moms, who gave those dresses some spit and shine. Every senior girl struggled to find the perfect one, who which had worn the year before…  As was normal, Cathy Mae stunned the room dressed up with her father’s wealth.

A Prom was just a sampling of pretty girls and whatever they could hand out.

Cathy Mae was a queen every damn year. But this year? But this year,  indeed. What could happen that would be justice for the wealthy?  Hmmm What would you do?

After Cathy’s grand entry, It was disaster from the get -go. Her dress choice was disastrous, ripping from pit to knee.  One of the guys had a car, so he went to the grocery store for ice. The punch didn’t go the way it should have. Some should have had more zip to it.There were no streamers up in heights or floating balloons. The football players got a little bit stupid, along with the weightlifters, but that was pretty standard.

What would be your decision? I know what I would do.

The underlined words are part of Wednesday Words. This is an opportunity for bloggers to make them shine.

This meme was started by Delores a long time ago.  Troubles led her to bow out, but the meme was too much fun to let go, and now Words for Wednesday is provided by a number of people and has become a movable feast. With Elephant's Child  and other blogger volunteers, Mother Owl's  and other excellent writers will find the challenges. Underlined words are some of the words available.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. Head on over to play with words!

  2. I would imagine a disastrous prom would be way more interesting than one that goes smoothly.
