The
year 1959 was a year of change for my family. We moved onto a farm
where we would live until 1995. So many adventures and so many memories
arise from that time.

So why did I post this?
We saw this at the theater in RiffTrax presentation. Movies of this lack of quality are narrated by the three guys from Mystery Space Science 3000. They bring a level of satire to this movie. This is why I pulled this one out of my vault of Christmas movies.
Plus, Alex Cavanaugh recommended the RiffTrax movies generally because they are ludicrous. I trust his judgment implicitly.
P.S. On-screen text is narrated immediately before "The End": A sonorous voice speaks these meaningful words. Somehow it was disturbing.

Blessed are those who believe
For they shall see God...
PEACE ON EARTH...
GOOD WILL TOWARD MEN.
MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Go figure.
This is a re-post from 2019. We laughed at this, which is what we need to do more often!
There's never a boring moment on your blog. Have a wonderful and peaceful (no creepy movies) holiday season.
ReplyDeleteI will stick to It's a Wonderful Life now.
DeleteSome goofy Christmas fun!
ReplyDeleteCrazy stuff.
DeleteI loved mystery science theater because it always made me laugh but I've never seen this creepy Santa piece! Oh my gosh, how scary it would be to kiddos! I was 6 in '59 and I would never go see Santa if I had seen this movie! So funny! You do find the most interesting things! Love it! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks go to Alex Kavanaugh, who comes across gems like this.
DeleteWhy, oh why, did I waste my time with "A Charlie Brown Christmas" when this gem was around?
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteOkay I am now convinced you are.......... well, not well. I made it to the boy and girl's dreams and some to the orphans methinks, Anyway maybe, just maybe if I could hear..... But then, what do I know...
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy the stuff though. From south Georgia,
Sherry & jack (sending love and hope for a great Christmas time.
South Georgia! You and Sherry are people on the move.
DeleteThat's where I knew this movie from. I haven't been to a RiffTrax, but one of these days... Glad it made you laugh.
ReplyDeleteThere is another one to advertise: Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny. Santa is stuck on a Florida beach, the reindeer ran off.
DeleteMystery Space Science 3000. A blast from the past. I haven't even run across it by accident in a long time.
ReplyDeleteIt was a surprise. We watched it and laughed. Clever ideas. Bad movies.
DeleteCreepy indeed. I watched a few minutes of the film and even fast forwarding didn't improve it. I think you need to be on acid or something similar to truly appreciate this one. I did laugh at what I saw of it, though.
ReplyDeleteFast forwarding is the key.
DeleteI think I'll stick with happier Christmas movies.
ReplyDeleteGood idea. 1959 was a strange year. Lots of SyFy movies, lots of new ideas. This movie came out of this weird studio in Mexico. And, it even rec'd a prestigious award from an obscure studio in some back lot.
DeleteMystery Science Theater 3000. We own several of theirs on DVD although we haven't watched in years. They can be hysterical. But this is way too creepy for me. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteOh, it isn't a family holiday movie to put on the list of watch-or-not.
DeleteThat's one movie i am glad not to have seen!
ReplyDeleteIt is a dvd type of movie. And, if you decide to watch it, fast forward, look for the exploits of Santa and then you are done.
DeleteSanta was creepy enough in the trailer, thank you. Worse than the Devil, really...
ReplyDeleteBeing creepy takes practice.
DeleteThat sounds really weird.
ReplyDeleteIt is totally weird. You should watch it. Then watch "Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny".
