Sonny and Cher's Comedy Hour always started with one of their songs. For some reason this one has special meaning to me.
The Beat Goes On, about 4 minutes.
Sad that time goes on and on. Sonny died in a skiing accident. Cher is still around, but her face has turned into a mask.
I didn't know that was a Sonny and Cher song. I knew the song though. My youngest used to like Britney Spears when he was a young tween. She had that song on one of her albums believe it or not, lol!
ReplyDeleteReally?!
DeleteAnd on we go. Yep, a mask indeed, plastic galore.
ReplyDeleteCher has always been an elegant woman, talented and compassionate. Seeing her face seemingly frozen is saddening.
DeleteI still admire Cher. Back then it was for things like no bra under that dress. Later I realized she was a good actress and an incredible business woman. Believe me, if I could, I'd still have perky little boobs.
ReplyDeleteCher was outrageous! On prime time, bra-less, in exotic flesh revealing clothing, Cher set a new trend, that looked good. At least, on her, it looked good.
DeleteBut if you close your eyes and listen things are still as they were. Of course, eventually you have to open your eyes again.
ReplyDeleteTherein lies the problem.
DeleteTime does go on for sure. I don't think we'd be happy if it didn't, we wouldn't grow old, that's true, but children wouldn't grow up, there wouldn't be progress, or maybe there would but not as much. I wouldn't like things to stay exactly the same forever. I'm not a fan of change but somethings are better for it.
ReplyDeleteI remember that song and just recently removed it from my ipods as I was finding it annoying, along with several other songs.
You have me chuckling.
DeleteTime and too much plastic surgery and lip filler are not kind. However, Cher can still belt out a good tune.
ReplyDeleteTalent comes from within.
DeleteI remember the Sonny and Cher Show. I loved those shows when I was a kid. I don't remember them all that well now (I was pretty young), but I do remember watching them.
ReplyDeleteThey were so talented. We watched them every week.
DeleteSometimes time seems to move on too quickly.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoyed listening to these two and Cher has also produced some good solo records ...
All the best Jan
My brother and wife always go to her concerts if she is within a reasonable distance.
DeleteI loved this one too and their show was fun. Celebrity faces all look alike now, I can't even tell them apart. Or know who they are any more. I miss Helen Hayes and her wrinkles.
ReplyDeleteShe was a delight.
DeleteThat little clip sure brings back memories! I used to watch their show regularly, too. Seems like soooo long ago!
ReplyDeleteOur kids were so young then. Decades have passed.
DeleteThey do make such a cute couple all donned out in white and the audience simply loves them, what an applause! I'd feel like the king of the world if I was one of them singing up there...
ReplyDeleteOh, so true!
