I could not resist
the sentence prompt! Usually those crazy
six words send me winding down some road.
But this time she wrote
…spinner
of tales…teller of dreams…
In school, I was the
ultra-obedient student, altho my mind was not.
So taking these
fragments I will give you instead a Gene Wilder spin on them with this:
...we are the music makers...we are the dreamer of dreams....
Gene Wilder is such a perfect actor for this role.

Gene Wilder was brilliant in this role. johnny depp was not. I hope you will enjoy the classic all over again.

DeleteI haven't seen that movie classic in years! (Giving all due credit to the genius Roald Dahl) Yes, we are the music makers... the dreamer of dreams.
ReplyDeleteRoald Dahl wrote some wonderful books..."James and the Giant Peach" being one. I don't know why someone took that book and slaughtered it in a movie.

I read it aloud to 3rd gr. students. There was so much in the book. The movie simply could not include all the wit and humor in it all, so they chose the best parts.

The factory was like every child's dream, except for the dark side.
DeleteI toed the line in school too. I got paddled a few times for doing something goofy, but that was rare.

My brothers got the paddle, but I was all innocent and obedient. But, in my mind, that would have not been the case.

ReplyDeleteI've always loved Gene Wilder. I especially enjoyed his collaborations with Mel Brooks. I didn't see Willy Wonka until after our kids were born, and I can't help but tear up whenever I hear "Pure Imagination."
