School plays have never been this good.

Going to your child's school performance has two ways of going. It will either a test of your love for that child, meaning you will lie to her afterwards.  The other is that you will really laugh, enjoy it, and put it on YouTube.

We've all been there. Wishing Starbucks was nearby, hoping that this will end soon. Or, instead of that agony, you will start laughing.

And this one:

Or this one:

The YouTube selections of kids in school plays are long and hilarious. Go for it.

  1. I enjoy these. Nothing better than when one of the kids is doing their own thing.

  2. You know they have very proud parents who will embarrass their children with these videos at inappropriate times in their lives. I have one of those of my daughter that I showed around until she had a little talk with me. Darn, I wish I could find it today.

    1. Now that my daughters have their own stars, they are more understanding. My gr-daughters are always the stars of their shows.

  5. The joy children bring to the world is so spontaneous. They definitely 'get into' what they are feeling. I remember the little ballerina when that video went viral. I wonder what happened to her.

    1. the one I think you mean is where a 2 year old was in a group dancing show. She froze, and her daddy came on the stage (holding a small baby) and held her hand. He knew the dance completely and danced with her. It was sooo cute. Daddy must have taken her to dance lessons to knew the routine so well. Big guy, military like.

  6. Love the whole hearted participation of the first two - and hope they retain it. For life.

    1. I think they will carry that joy through their lives. If they love it this much, they will love it later.

  7. The middle dancer is something. I just love her attitude. And I'm with the little girl from the last video. When the little fella sneezed, I just wondered how many in that line were going home with a cold. 😺 Thanks for brightening up my afternoon.

  8. All I got is one of my daughter (memory, no film) in her pre-school Christmas, basically just standing there with a brown wool cap with antlers on and a sign that said, "DEER", around her neck...

  11. I guess that's why I don't remember doing any thing like that until middle school.

  12. The Johanna channeling Aretha Franklin is really good. I can see a future on the stage for that young lady! It looks like an end of year concert for a tap dancing class, similar to the end of year concerts my grand daughters ballet class held. The 'babies' always did their routines first and were so cute to watch.

  13. My youngest son put on quite a performance at his 1st Grade Christmas program. Problem was, he was only supposed to be part of the background singers. It's still talked about today, 15 years later, by people who were in the audience. It should have been a clue when I wandered into the gym on my plan time, during rehearsal, and saw that he'd been put in the bleachers, alone, under the watchful eye of two teachers.

    1. So, what did he do??? Did he spend the rest of his school years being under a teacher's watchful eye?!

    2. It was the down time during the little play and the solo that did him in. He sat on the front row of risers like he was supposed to. He smiled devilishly and waved at me every 2 minutes. Then he pulled up his pant legs so it looked like he was wearing a brown corduroy
bikini bottom. He stretched his arms up over his head, leaned back, and karate-chopped the boy behind him until one of the teacher/bouncers came over to break it up. They stood up to sing, so the bikini reverted back to pants. He untied a little girl's belt, pulled it off, and handed it to her, draped across his arms, like a gift. The piece de resistance was when he put his face in her stomach. He said he was sniffing the flower on her dress.

He spent many recesses "sitting on the log," and lost the use of his GameBoy at home. Around second grade, he really straightened up. He had a teacher who JUST GOT HIM. She was calm and caring and got through to him. I thanked her for years, and will do so again if I run into her. Not sure he'd have gotten a National Merit Scholarship without her intervention!

  16. Oh my word that second video was so good, that middle girl was hilarious! She'll go far! I could do with her at some of my gigs when people don't dance!

  18. Dear Susan, thanks so much for posting these three videos. I laughed out loud and now I'm sitting her, typing, and grinning like a chimpanzee who's had a great and wonderful swing through the trees! Peace.
