Fruit cake meets all nutritional needs .

The question is (please be truthful) "Do you really like or do you really hate fruitcake?"

                                                                    Memes monkey

Last year I made the traditional Irish Christmas pudding, and it was really good. So this year, I will make a modified fruit cake. With God's help and if the sky doesn't fall, I might have an equal success.

Will keep you updated.

  1. I haven't had fruit cake since I lived in the UK a gazillion years ago. Now I must be excused because of my type 1 diabetes. But I wish you the best of luck. Actually, I'm sure it will be really good.

  2. I love fruit. HOWEVER, I can live without fruit cake. I have eaten some that weren't bad. I definitely prefer German's Chocolate or Red Velvet (LOL).
    Love the graphics....
Sherry & jack we dropped to 35 degrees in Florida last night, definitely COLD for Florida.

    1. 35 degrees in Florida! Wow.

I like all cake, just don't eat it much. I am making small batches to give fruitcake (made in cupcake pans) to neighbors.

  4. Smiling at the memes.
Each year I make fruitcake for family and friends.
I think (hope) my baking is now done. And that my gifts are enjoyed.

  5. My mother had been collecting fruitcake recipes for years. For some reason she decided to try them all one year. I kind of steer clear of it ever since.

    1. Hehe...I have done the same, with Christmas puddings. But NOT every recipe!! God bless your mom.

this recipe uses a cake mix!!! to which all sorts of normal ingredients have been added.

  6. With the mention of fruitcake, I am reminded of the Johnny Carson joke. “ The worst gift is fruitcake. There is only one fruitcake in the entire world, and people keep sending it to each other.” I have some blogger friends from the UK whose tradition is to make and have fruitcake on Christmas. I think it is lovely for them, but I prefer apple pie.

    1. It depends on the fruit cake. I have eaten good and then eaten bad. I think UK fruit cake is less packed with stuff and not dry.

  8. I've only had one fruitcake I liked. Most I would take one bite and spit it out. Love your memes, though. Good luck making your own.

    1. My parents always sent us a great fruitcake ordered from Texas. It was excellent. I hope mine will at least mimic that one.

  10. I do like fruitcake, but some are definitely better than others and I've never been able to successfully bake my own so always have to buy one if I want one. I'm the only one I know who likes it, so I slice it the day I buy it and freeze the wrapped slices so it lasts longer.

    1. Good thinking. When our son moved away, the fruitcake had to be frozen. He wasn't there to help me eating it.

    1. I am going for the fruitcake. Right now, I am gathering up all the ingredients. Had to order the candied fruit on line. All the stores around here were out of it.

  12. Fruitcake, if made with quality ingredients, is a very good snack. A bad one is most upsetting.

  13. I'll take a hard pass on fruitcake. I deal with enough of them on a regular basis to want to consume one.

  14. I have never actually had homemade fruitcake. I think that would like it.

    Good luck on your endeavors!

  15. I actually made fruitcakes a couple of times when I was in my 30's. Took one to the office. No one touched it. Learned my lesson. Hope yours had better luck. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
