As the Ocean Rolls |
Warm blue sea
Surface, smooth
Reflecting sunlight
With a quiet wind.
Beneath
Frigid, numbing
Green fighting blue
Rough, rolling
Turbulent, angry.
Swirling, ripping
Tearing apart.
Cold ocean hates
Flesh itself.
Cold water ocean
Warm water sea.
God, stir blue green,
Dip Your Hands
Where cold fights,
Warm soothes.
Rescue me
From cold.
Hold me
In Your Warmth.
I cry out for You.
I hope the warmth of the sea comes to you soon, Susan. I no longer dip my toes in the cold water ocean and can only tolerate water and life between 80 and 90 degrees.
ReplyDeleteOceans are for watching and enjoying. My days of cold water are also over.
DeleteBeauty on the surface. Terror underneath.
ReplyDeleteWe cannot see what is ahead or beneath.
DeleteYou have to experience the cold before you can truly appreciate the warmth...may your relief come soon.
ReplyDeleteIt will, I know. This is for all who find themselves caught between the cold and warm. Knowing God is in charge of all is what will always give peace.
DeleteAlways swim up to the Son and you'll be all right!
ReplyDeleteChrist Jesus stilled the sea, walked on the water. As long one keeps his eyes on Him, no one absolutely no one will never sink. He has scooped His Hand under me and holds me up.
DeleteStray from the cold and keep the warmth, much nicer.
ReplyDeleteKeeping the warmth, hugging it, is better.
DeleteWow. What a wonderful poem. I've always been in awe of the ocean and spent many happy days playing in it when I was young. But you're right about not knowing what lurks beneath the surface. I can't count how many times I got tossed by some big waves and scraped the skin off my nose on the shell-covered bottom. Spinning, at the mercy of the water. It as scary, but I always came out on top. So will you.
ReplyDeleteYour experiences absolutely voiced the terror and scare of that immersion in the cold.
DeleteNothing embodies beautiful and terrifying as perfectly as the ocean.
ReplyDeleteThe sheer immensity of the two oceans is breathtaking.
DeleteWhat intense, beautifully written verse.
ReplyDeleteGlad you saw the power of few words.
