We never see snow at all, so this was such a treat. We left the next day, for LAX California |
The year I was born: 1951.
The day was: 4th
And on December 4, 2016, I turned 65 (sixty-five, yup).
It was the best birthday of my life. Our son John married Arlette Foy, and we rejoiced in a big way. Chicago sparkled all on its own.
This was a truly joyous day, just can't tell you how much.

Today is my 67th birthday. I look good, a few wrinkles or more, surrounded by those whom I love, my husband of 46 years, and a field of happiness around us.
We are blessed.
Thank you, God.
Happy Birthday, Susan! What a beautiful wedding and what a joy your new grandchild must be! Those snowy photos are gorgeous too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra. It was a happy day.
DeleteWishing you many, many happy returns of the day!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHappy Birthday. What a marvelous day to have your son happily married,
ReplyDeletea rare snow also and now a grandson to spoil. Sometimes life is just so darn good. Enjoy the day.
We have enjoyed it! Fully and with lots of love, I am surrounded by their love.
DeleteHappy birthday.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteHappy Birthday! I love seeing family pictures and you have a lovely family. The pictures of snow in the cemetery... outstanding.
ReplyDeleteWhen we arrived, it was all grey and I promised our gr-daughters we would go exploring on the next day. It snowed and it was beautiful.
DeleteHappy Birthday, Susan!!! Those snow scenes are nothing short of intoxicating … how I love that white stuff. Congratulations on young master Flynn. That's a neat name!
ReplyDeleteFlynn is now 7 mo. old, giggling and doing cute stuff.
DeleteA very, very happy birthday. Love those precious memories you have stored.
ReplyDeleteHaving those memories fills me with such happiness.
DeleteHappy birthday! What a treat you got snow a couple years ago and at such a great time.
ReplyDeleteWhile others might consider the snow as a cold weather for the wedding, it was actually so beautiful.
DeleteHappy Birthday! What lovely memories to have connected with your own special day. Yes, it looks as though you have had many blessings in life -- and know that and appreciate them. Enjoy the day!
ReplyDeleteI have been blessed.
DeleteHappy birthday! And a good anniversary to the happy couple. You know, you share a birthday with my nephew :)
ReplyDeleteAhhhh. How old is he?
DeleteHappy birthday, Susan.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of your son and DIL ‘s wedding were lovely only to be outdone by the ones with your beautiful new grandson, Flynn. Congratulations!
Yes, you do look very good. Age is just a number, and remember smiling does not age us, but frowning brings us down.
I smile more now than I ever have. So much joy with our family brings us joy.
DeleteHappy birthday! Have a lot of joy in your life indeed, except the snow. You can have that lol
ReplyDeleteWe liked the snow in its beauty. But, we can leave it behind. Had plenty in our Illinois days.
DeleteFor some reason this brought happy tears to my eyes. What a lovely, loving post. You are truly blessed. Oh, almost forgot: Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteOH, so glad this touched you!
DeleteHappy Birthday :)
ReplyDeleteI love new babies and I love the snowy photos.
We held Flynn (an Irish name, after a dear friend who passed away, in early July. He was a sweet 2 mo. baby then. He gave me lots of smiles.
DeleteHappy Birthday for 4th December, 2018....I hope you had a most enjoyable day.
ReplyDeleteI was born 11th November, 1944...I spent my birthday very quietly...by choice...just me and my two furry mates. :)
In my childhood, my b-day was so close to Christmas that my presents took a scoop out of Christmas gifts. The gifts weren't important, just that one day.
DeleteHappy Birthday
ReplyDeleteThanks, Adam.
DeleteHappy Birthday. The baby is so cute. I love the tree's out in the snow. We almost never get snow here either.
ReplyDeleteThe trees are green while all is gray and white. It was breath-taking.
DeleteHappy Birthday, Susan. Thanks for sharing this post with us. Enjoy your grandson and many more happy days. Your photos of the cemetery with the snow covered trees are absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
We have celebrated it up properly.

DeleteA bit too late to wish you a happy day, but not to late to wish you joy for the next year. My grandfather was born on a Christmas day, one year he announced that he did not want cards and presents but would celebrate on June 25 instead. Everyone complied with the first part of the instruction but then we all forgot to celebrate in June! He complained about that for the rest of his life.
ReplyDeleteOh my. I hope they were properly chastised.
DeleteWhat a sweet baby. :) Happy Birthday to you!! I am glad it was wonderful. I love everything about your post, except the snow. I never like the snow. ;)
ReplyDeleteGrowing up in Illinois and experiencing full on snow, boy, I am with you.
DeleteSeeing snow from a distance and then leaving it is just fine.
Thanks for the good wishes.
Belated Happy Birthday from me …
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing all of your photographs.
All the best Jan
Isn't it amazing how one moment is my son's 14th b-day, and now he is a father.
DeleteHappy belated birthday Susan! My birthday was Dec 2nd. Love the beautiful snow covered pine trees. Congrats on the grandson! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHe is now 7 mo. old. Since we live in So Cali., so snow isn't something we see.
