Quintessential Radio: You're on live...

Dick Clark as DJ oh so long ago
...And...We're back, taking calls to answer the question of "Regrets?  Looking back on my life..."  First caller on line one.

DJ Bob: So, let's hear it, big fella.  What can you say looking back on your life?

Anonymous:  I'll state it clear...I've lived a life that's...uh...full.  I've traveled down each and every highway...

DJ Bob:  So, you're a traveling man, who lives in cheap motels? Away from the family, huh.  Any regrets?

Anonymous: Regrets?  I've had a few, but then, too few to mention…

DJ Bob: Oh, one of those.  Love 'em and leave 'em?

Anonymous: I did what I had to do...saw through without exemption...

DJ Bob: Let me guess:  you planned each careful step, right? Had to, I imagine.

Anonymous:…More, much more than this, I did it my way….

DJ Bob: O-kay, but were there times?  Didn't you ever think you bit off more than you could chew?  You know, the balancing act?

Anonymous: But, through it all…I ate it up and spit it out…faced it all and stood ta…

DJ Bob:  I see.  A life of love, laugh, and tears, right?  Yours or your family?  Ever think about 'em?  I mean, didn't you ever think about losing them?

Anonymous:  I’ve had my share of losing, but…now I find it all so amusing!  To think I did all that and…

DJ Bob: AMUSING? But, you’re not shy, are you?  Not humble at all! I bet you shout...

AnonymousOh, no, oh, no, not me!  I did it my way!

DJ Bob: Well, then, what IS a man, not a sleezy guy like yourself?  What has he got?  If not his family, what is important?

AnonymousYes!  If not himself, then he has naught!  To say the things he truly feels…

DJ Bob: NAUGHT? NAUGHT? Big word for a obnoxious man. Sure, but these are not the words of one ...?

Anonymous:  ...who kneels!  The record shows…Yes!  I took the blows!

DJ Bob Well, I'd love to land some blows on you, you narcissistic bastard.  You got a record, a felony record?

Anonymous:  And did it my way!  Yes, it was my way…

DJ Bob:  Right, buddy.  Whatever you say.  Next caller, line 2?...

P.S. This is a re-post from A-Z bloghop, April 2013. There are also two or three more "Quintessential Radio" interviews to be seen in next month or two.

  1. That was really good, Susan. I noted it was a man; women seldom do it their way because they are so busy doing for others.

  2. Sinatra (a good Catholic) had a wife and several children. Divorced her, married Mia Farrow and two other women. Had an affair with Ava Gardner. Faithfulness was not a strong suit. No regrets.

    2. It gets worse. Ava found that she was pregnant and had an abortion. Sinatra divorced her quickly.

  3. Of course it was a man...
    Sigh.
And some day I would like to do things MY way. Things which aren't cleaning or cooking.

    1. Apparently this song was written by Paul Anka. The lyrics are pretty simple.

  6. Even though his voice had faded a little Frank was amazing. The audience loved his performance and what a guy, his songs were magic.

  7. Dear Susan, I so enjoyed this post. In fact I still have a smile on my face as I type this. It's a smile left over from laughing out loud at the DJ's absolutely being incensed by such a narcissistic caller! Peace. I just loved it!
