December Night

Biggest Full Moon of the Year: Take 2
Source
On a December night,
Does and fawns tread light
Over newly fallen snow,
Under full moon glow.

No twinkling lights abound
On country roads, no sounds
Through bare trees.
Where silence quietly creeps.

Sheltered within a warm home
Beneath starry night dome,
Children settle and sigh
Under a dreaming December sky.

    1. Well done, Pat. Seeing deer prints across our snowy fields was exciting for us.

  2. How lovely! I like that no twinkling lights abound in some places. Much as I adore cairy lights, the woods are dark and deep without them.

    1. Moving from city to woods is a big adjustment, a good one.

  3. That was really nice! And only the wildlife should be out on Christmas Eve.

  9. I like this, I'm picturing children snuggled under quilts as the night silence wraps itself around them.

    1. That is exactly the image I wanted to create. I still have one of Mom's ancient, handed down, wool quilts.
