'Tis the Season

‘Tis the Season for….

so many things.  Shopping.  Wrapping.  Cooking.  Cleaning.  Cleaning.  Music.  Commercials.  More commercials….

Does the list end?

The subject I wish to harp upon is the never-ending-commercials. I do not have to be specific, for I am certain that you have some particular commercials that have gotten to you.

The one commercial that has struck a chord with me is a Lexus™ automobile commercial.  It has all the vibrato and finesse that one would expect of an expensive car.  Lots of everything.

The part that has struck a sour note is the voice over:

Someday, your life will flash before your eyes…Make it worth watching…

The silver car speeds off into the darkness…

Personally, I would prefer cleaning to this commercial any day, which says a lot.

  1. Hate the friggin commercials that just come over and over and over again. Which I why I don't watch cable. Wrapping and shopping is all done too!

    1. You are ahead of the game. We DVR tv and fast-forward through commercials, but sometimes we are not quick enough.

  2. What kind of car you drive isn't going to 'make' your life one way or the other. Yes....I've seen that particular piece of tripe myself.

    1. Our Cable bill has sky-rocketed. We will cancel a good portion of it, and stick with NetFlix, and maybe Hulu.

      A joyful Christmas to you!

  4. I agree!

What upsets me...Sam Elliot advertising Dodge trucks. I'm in love with that man but also love Chevrolets.

  5. Should my life flash before me, I would hope it had more value than a silver Lexus.

  6. Here we are having a run on 'life insurance', 'funeral insurance' ads. Which send me silly. All the ads (which are repeated far toooo often) are bad, but the bit where the voice over says 'one day we are all going to be hit with a bill for our funeral' (or words to that effect) has me shouting at the screen on a regular basis. No one is going to give me the bill for my funeral. Hiss and spit.

  7. I agree that this is annoying. It's a shame that we can't fast forward live commercials. Julie

    1. We have a DVR which allows us to kick off most of the commercials. But sometimes we are not quick enough.

  8. Dear Susan, commercials that tell us who we "should" be and what defines us and how to be humans recognized as being successful do so much harm to the younger generations. Or so I think. Peace.

  9. I've always wondered, is there anyone who has received a CAR for Christmas?! I mean, how many people do that? Do they shell out the full price, or do they put a downpayment on something, drive it home and say, "Look, honey! I got you XXX number of years to make a monthly payment!"

Sheesh. Who makes that kind of money?!
